Topic: HR Legislative Updates
Speaker: Ray McCarthy – Associated Industries of Missouri
Synopsis: In this session we will cover the legislation currently under consideration in the Missouri General Assembly, including potential law changes that could affect the employer/employee relationship regarding discrimination cases, expansion of protection for LGBT employees, new protected special classes for veterans and victims of domestic violence. Challenges for payroll professionals resulting from these changes could include identifying such employees without violating federal laws. Legislation will also be covered that will allow smaller employers to file fewer withholding tax returns by adjusting the amount of withholding tax required for quarterly filing.
